Mrs P in the Woods (Part Two)

Mrs P arrived at the woods about 3 o’clock. I had already set up her DD Travel Hammock and tarp. The weather was good. The woods were cool? What could possibly go wrong?

First things first and Mrs P was settled into to her woodland hotel. As this was happening, an adder was being removed from the main site by Mike. Mrs P, unaware, is still smiling.

After a cup of tea, we walked into the woods with the air rifles.

Mrs P was keen to have a go and gets a brief from Adam.

She liked shooting the air rifles but particularly Adam’s lighter Webley Spectre.

It was a perfect evening to walk the complete circumference of the lake and watch the dragonflies or just sit and watch the water.

Before too many grubs came out, we returned to the main area. Mrs P even tried some of the Goat curry made by Andy’s Mum-in-law (delicious) although she was a bit dubious at first.

During the evening, Mrs P slipped away to her hammock and came back with some interesting wood attire. Her pink PJ’s.

After a few ciders and a good chat around the fire, it was bed time. The final assurance from me was that snakes can’t climb trees.

Mrs P reported that the hammock was very comfy although she did wake up a couple of times feeling cold. I have recorded evidence of snoring sounds coming from the hammock. This will be placed on YouTube and Facebook if I fail to get a cup of tea in bed all this week.

Despite the effort that went into what we considered a 5 star dunny…

Mrs P wasn’t too impressed.

… But all in all she kept smiling.

After breakfast and a pack up, Mrs P left the woods. The verdict: “I would come again. Not regularly or for more than one night, but I’d definitely do it again. I enjoyed it. Everyone made me so welcome. Thank you all.”

(And well done to you too. I was more than proud.)

I’ll tell you about the rest of the weekend during the week.

  1. Great post, glad to hear your wife was at least willing to do it again although I don’t understand her dislike of the toilet. It’s has wood, duct tape and even a seat, what’s not to love? :) Thanks for sharing and keep working on her.
