View Karrimor Predator 0410

Take a look at the new Karrimor Predator Patrol 45 rucksack. Some bill this as a replacement for the Sabre 45 litre; but is it a worthy contender and suitable for bushcraft use?

Watch the video to have a look round it and find out my opinion.

By the way, you can get these from Lakeland Bushcraft.

  1. I had a berghaus with that buckle in the 80′s – the new pack looks good – but I’m still saving for Kifaru.

Ohhh… nice packs but a bit £££££ and a little heavy.

  3. I like how it rides very close to your body which will increase stability when trekking over rough terrain. The zippers are much larger and more rugged than on many similar packs and will therefore have less chance of failure or jamming

I woudnt mind the big Karrimor looks a good bit of kit am not that happy with my British Army issue 120 bergon it falling apart after only a year – Nice reveiw Pabs

  5. Brett says:

    Great review Pablo.

Is the omni pouch big enoough to take a Swedish army trangia set?

Regarding the buckles they are an unusual set up for bergans, but quiet a common fitting on commercial fall arrest harness – normally metal fixings but if it can hold a person in from a fall it should be good enuogh for a began I’d have thought.

  6. Pablo says:

    Hi Brett,
No, the omni pouch isn’t big enough for a swedish army trangia.
Thanks for the info re the buckles.
    Pablo.

    Hi Pablo
great review, what’s it like with a full load? Concerned that the waist belt would not really do a lot for taking the load off your shoulders I presume it’s more for stability the shoulder straps do not look that padded either. Do you think it would be a comfortable all day pack?

  8. Pablo says:

Lee, I had weekend kit in including food and 2 litres of errr… cider. Although I didn’t walk very far, the pack felt comfortable and there was no issues with the hip belt. The shoulder strap padding is more than adequate. Having said that, it’s not a hiking bag. Also bear in mind it’s quite a heavy bag in any case. I will put my neck on the line and say you could walk with that weight pretty much all day and be comfortable.

  9. Jim says:

    Hi
What is the weight of this pack empty? I can’t seem to find the information anywhere.

  10. Mark says:

Fantastic review, comprehensive and detailed. I have one of these on order as per your recommendation, looking forward to trying it out! Will see how I get on with the high waist belt.

  11. Pablo says:

I’ll weigh it Jim and get back to you soon.

  12. Pablo says:

Jim. I make the weight 2300grms or 5 lbs. This is on my kitchen scales so not exactly scientifically accurate – but probably not far out. I atribute most of the weight to the back panel.

  13. Dominic parris says:

Interesting. Any chance of a similar vid of the Tec Mac 50ltr version?

    D

  14. Yes, that is one problem with packs that have plenty of pockets and extras is that they tend to be relatively heavy. Some of my favorite packs are basically just one big pocket with perhaps a top compartment and two side pockets.

  15. andrew says:

don’t know how current this is but this pack is now on issue to the British army in desert dpm and now new MTP

  16. Chris sumner says:

    Hi Pablo

    Fantastic review with the pack
I am going to buy a karrimor sf tecmac 50
And was wondering if you could fit a jetboil flash
    Into the omni pouch
    Thanks, chris

  17. Pablo says:

Hi Chris, You’d be struggling to put a Jetboil in the omni pouch. It’s just designed for bits and pieces. Best to get some side pouches from the sabre. They will fit the tecmac and predator.

  18. Chris sumner says:

Ok, I was hoping to leave the side pouches
For my bulkier items, do you know of any molle
Pouches which are bigger than the omni ?

I haven’t purchased any molle products before so not to familiar
    With there products

    Thanks

  19. Pablo says:

Try Maxpedition stuff. The 12 x 5 botle holder fits the jetboil. Other pouches might do it as well.

  20. Chris sumner says:

Ok thanks very much for advise
I’m going to see mark at Lakeland bushcraft
    Next week to purchase

  21. andrew says:

HI thought i just say that the PLCE Bergen side pouches “rocket pocket” will fit they zip and clip on and can take large items and combined with the karrimor side panel and the PLCE yoke to make a small grab bag

  22. Anonymous says:

cheers mate, spot on review! am in the military and am sold.. will be buying shortly

  23. Anonymous says:

hi, i also am looking at getting the preditor 50. could someone please tell me if its pos to put the side pouches onto the frame? thanks

  24. Pablo says:

Yes, you can put the side pouches on the Predator Patrol 45 and the Tecmac 50.

  25. Chris sumner says:

    I bought a predator 50 after seeing pablo’s
    Video on YouTube

I would go for the extra 5 Ltrs plus the 15 ltr
    Side pouches

I also have a Templar assault systems large utility pouch
On the front as well were my jetboil flash is stored inside

  26. John says:

Anyone interested Ihave this pack along with to large karrimor side pockets with waterproof liners, in addition i also have a molle waterbottle that can be attached.Only used once.
I’m looking for £150 inc postage, email me if your interested.
    John
